| DCBI Presents Final Report
The Dunvegan Community Broadband Initiative (DCBI) is now complete and the final report has been submitted to the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs. While the project provided coverage to much of the area delineated in the RFP, there was also significant spill-over into adjacent hexes. The project's other positive effect is that enhancements to Xplornet's infrastructure in Vankleek Hill to feed the Laggan Coverage Extender has resulted in increased access in hexes 7188, 7338. and 7187. As well, while not part of the DCBI project, the completion of the Xplornet antenna on the Alexandria water tower is having a positive impact on hexes 6749, 6893, and 6750. Once again, because of terrain, coverage isn't complete but it's a big help.
This said, there are still some significant "dark" areas within North Glengarry: hexes 6463, 6606, 6605, 6748, 6892, 7037, 7039, 7038, 7187, and 7186. Terrain and trees take their toll all across the township. Coverage would have been even better if budget had been available to install a more comprehensive array of Coverage Extender antennas on silos, grain elevators, and other high points.
